Hi i ve just bought a pair of ceramic bearings for one of my 515 s no particular reason i just wanted to try them and my question is what oil should i use i use red rf in all my other bearings so should i continue to use this or use another oil.
Should i oil my ceramic bearings before using them.
Happens that these days i m a ball bearing salesman and i have a small piece of advice.
Oil lubrication allows for more efficient movement of the ball through the lubricant as compared to greases the difference between dry and lubricated bearings.

To much will cause the bearings to slow down.

Info from them online says to oil them like normal bearings but i always thought ceramic bearings should run without oil.
Oil dissipates faster than grease so typically shielded bearings using oil as lubrication will require constant care.

I remember cleaning my skateboard bearings.
The ceramic ball does not need lube but the ss outside race does.
It should pop up and out quite easily so handle them gently and don t bend them or cut the seal.
The rolling resistance of a ceramic bearing compared to an abec 3 5 or 7 steel ball bearing is offset by the resistance of the grease he says.
There are opinions that running dry will shorten life.
The oil will allow the bearings to move easily but only apply a little bit.
Metal shielded bearings that use either grease or oil should be constantly maintained and frequency level with vary depending on your application.
