I bought the cricut mats because they were half the price of the silhouette mats.
I just got a new cameo only one mat and my first cut had that problem i tried a face that i had been trying to cut unsuccessfully with my cricut because it was too detailed and it handled the cuts great but i messed it up getting it off the mat because it had some very thin lines i will try the shirt trick to make it a bit less sticky but i love the cameo so far.
If you find the cutting mat too sticky pat your hands or a t shirt on the mat to make it less sticky.
When the cutting mat is new however it can be too sticky for certain material such as paper and paper backed materials such as adhesive vinyl.
How to clean a cutting mat i use nail polish remover on my silhouette mats and it works great ryann s.
Make sure your mat is completely dry before using it again.
If your silhouette or cricut mats are getting dirty or are no longer sticky i will show you how to make your cutting mats like new.

I m not favouring one brand over the other just sharing my experience in the hope of helping other crafters prevent a similar situation.
This will make it less likely for problems to occur when placing your mat in your silhouette cameo.
By the way silhouette cameo mats are also too sticky when new.
This is frustrating but you will learn to keep several mats on hand at different levels of stickiness for different things.
Then it quickly goes to not sticky enough.
I am a new customer of silhouette cameo.
But the carrier sheet is much too sticky and the paper won t peel off without tearing.
You will need an area around the outside that is not sticky.

It will be hard for the rollers to run if your they are getting stuck on the sticky part of your mat.
The mat starts out waaaayyy too sticky and it will eat your paper or the backing on your vinyl.
Obviously the silhouette cutting mat has to be sticky to keep materials in place while they re being cut by the silhouette.
