If your silhouette cameo 4 wont read registration marks for print and cut it is likely trying to read the grid lines on your cutting mat left.

Blade obstructed if a piece of scrap material usually vinyl or paper is stuck on the blade it will cause cutting issues with your.
1 blade is not properly inserted and or locked down.
Blade fin is not aligned at 6 o clock the black fin on the ratchet blade housing must be pointed at the 6 o clock position or the silhouette will not cut correctly or at all unlock the lock and turn the blade until the fin is in the correct position.
The fix is to move the paper or material on the cutting mat over and up just slightly so it covers the top and left edge of the grid line box right.
If your silhouette autoblade continues to cut through the vinyl it s very likely due to the way the autoblade is seated in the tool carriage.
When the blade is not fully seated in the tool carriage meaning there is a gap even a small one it actually cuts too deep.
If your silhouette cutting mat is brand new you may want to de stick the cutting mat somewhat by blotting it with a clean t shirt.
Now you are ready to design.
Cutting without a mat this option is great because you can cut smaller pieces of vinyl without a mat.
My friend and fellow instructor elly from silhouette secrets has diagnosed this issue so often on facebook that she keeps a photo of a properly installed blade on hand to post whenever someone is having cutting issues.
For me this is the bane of using vinyl.
The same goes for the portrait 2 autoblade.
Place the vinyl onto the silhouette cutting mat with the backing paper side down onto the mat making sure the vinyl is covering the same area where the design is placed on the virtual mat in silhouette studio.
The backing of the vinyl allows your silhouette to grip it when printing.
By doing this you make sure it cuts all the way through your media ie deep enough it doesn t cut too deep where it will damage your mat or cutting strip and if you are cutting something that has a backing like htv vinyl or sticker paper you can cut through the top layer but not the backing perfectly.
I love this option because you can use long rolls of vinyl and cut multiple projects at once.
In most cases there are two quick fixes that will fix the issue and get you cutting successfully in a hurry.
